    Professional History
Began in 1991--began a program at a residential treatment center for kids with emotional problems that won an award

Extensive training with Texas Center for Service-Learning

    Ambassador for TxCSL

Work as a s-l professional for 5 years

Earned Certificate of Excellent Practice in K-12 Service-Learning in 2008

    Professional Expertise/ Passions
I am particularly dedicated to bringing service-learning to special or "at-risk" populations. My background is implementing s-l with kids in special education and kids who have been expelled or suspended. I taught social skills as service-learning to high school students with emotional problems and learning disabilities and then co-coordinated a grant through No Child Left Behind, Title IV, for Disciplinary Alternative Educational Programs (DAEPs) and Juvenile Justice Alternative Educational Programs (JJAEPs) for 3 years.

What I'm Most Excited About in My Current Work
I'm excited about working on a new grant with State Farm, the Youthful Driver Safety grant, and also about becoming certified as a person with Excellent Practice in K-12 Service-Learning. I LOVE bringing s-l to new educators, because I love it when they begin to see how student leadership changes their kids.
